About the Course
HLTAID009 – Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation reflects the role of workers in the community and/or residential setting who follow an individualised plan to provide person-centered support to people who may require support due to ageing, disability or some other reason. Work involves using discretion and judgement in relation to individual support as well as taking responsibility for own outputs. Workers have a range of factual, technical and procedural knowledge, as well as some theoretical knowledge of the concepts and practices required to provide person-centered support.

Entry Requirements
There are no academic requirements or pre-requisites for this qualification, however, the student must:- Be 15 years of age
- Have sound communication skills
- Must have a valid Unique Student Identifier (USI)
Assessment
HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation will be presented in competency-based mode and the student’s competency will be assessed at all levels according to competencies and performance criteria. The training package for each competency specifies the conditions and method of assessment. Assessment methods range from completing online study, assessment, class attendance and participation, completion of assessment and practical assessment.Important Information

This course is a nationally accredited qualification recognized across all industries. This course provides students with the skills and knowledge to provide CPR at the scene of an accident or illness. Students learn to manage casualty(s), undertake basic life support, provides participants with basic knowledge and understanding to enable the use of a defibrillator in an emergency situation and to manage the incident in the home, workplace or within the community, until the arrival of medical assistance or the state based Ambulance Service. The HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation unit of competency comprises three (3) elements of performance criteria and is derived from the Health Training Package. - Classroom Training (Face to Face: Training)
- Practical Training
- Assessment for both knowledge and skills.
