This qualification reflects the role of community service workers who design and deliver person-centred services to individuals and/or groups. Workers may provide support, advocacy or interventions to individual clients, groups or communities across a range of services.
At this level, workers may be autonomous with limited responsibility within established parameters and may be required to supervise and lead other workers in projects or teams. Work may take place in a range of community service, case work or case management contexts.
This nationally recognised Certificate IV in Community Services helps you build a career as a community services worker in the fastest growing industry in Australia. Entry Requirements
There are no academic requirements or pre-requisites for this qualification, however, the student must:
- Be 15 years of age
- Have sound communication skills
- Undertake and complete a Language, Literacy and Numeracy Assessment
- Must have a valid Unique Student Identifier (USI) and Police check.
- Influenza vaccination before they attend work placement
- Mandatory COVID-19 vaccination certificate required (Unless medical exemption is provided )
You will be assessed on your language, literacy and numeracy skills prior to enrolment to ensure you have the skills in line with ACSF level 3. If you do not meet the required skills you may need to complete foundational skills training with an approved provider before you can enrol to complete this qualification with ANTS.
Assessment
CHC42015 Certificate IV in Community Services will be presented in competency-based mode and the student’s competency will be assessed at all levels according to competencies and performance criteria. The training package for each competency specifies the conditions and method of assessment. Assessment methods range from completing set tasks and activities, class attendance and participation, completion of assignments / projects and practical demonstrations in a simulated or workplace environment.

Work Placement
Students will attend the mandatory work placement after completing the face-to-face theory and simulated training. The placement will include both training and assessment.
Australian Nursing and Training Services (ANTS) arranges work placements for students.
All students must complete a minimum of 100 hours of work placement in an accredited residential care facility for either aged care, disability or home and community organisation to be deemed competent for this qualification.
Along with your police check, we also recommend obtaining HLTAID011 Provide first aid prior to commencing your placement. If you choose the Disability or Home and Community specialisation you will also need to obtain a working with children check.
Some facilities may also require you to provide Immunisation records/evidence, (Flu Vaccines are required in all Accredited Residential Care Facilities, if you are not vaccinated the facility may not accept you)
